Acknowledging the pivotal role of standardization in realizing its objectives, the European Union is committed to boosting the development and adoption of global digital standards for increased competitiveness.

Brussels – 29 September 2021, Industrial data is of ever-increasing importance for companies in Europe and the world, and particularly so in the context of the digitization of industry. On this topic, on Tuesday 28 September, CEN, CENELEC and ETSI co-organised an online stakeholders’ workshop dedicated to exploring how standards can support the industrial data value chain.

The Digital Transition is an opportunity for Europe to boost its competitiveness in global markets.

As part of CEN and CENELEC’s Digital Transformation activities, CEN and CENELEC’s Digital Transformation Project 4 ‘Open Source Solutions’ is looking at ways to incorporate open source approaches into the European standardization ecosystem by December 2022.

CEN and CENELEC are calling for participants in their “Standards of the future – machine readable” project.

One of CEN and CENELEC's Digital Transformation projects, Project 4 ‘Open Source Solutions’, has been progressing with its work to provide Technical Committees (TCs) with a framework for incorporating software and other designs into standardization deliverables. It is now calling for pilot projects and members of the core project team for the next phase of the project.
